"I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Coach Tonya and Coach Jerry and to all there wonderful staff. We have had the pleasure of working with them for almost a year now. Both my kids, Hannah (age 6) and Christopher (age 3 1/2) love going to work out at the gym. My daughter Hannah, has Cerebral Palsy, significant developmental delays as well as sensory issues. She has made tremendous progress in balance, coordination and strength. She also continues to learn how to follow direction.  My son Christopher also has the pleasure of working out in the gym with Coach Tonya. Although he is a "typical child", he still benifits from working and playing at the gym. He has overcome many fears such as being up high off the ground, even on the balance beam. He has become a more confident child and has learned to follow direction.  Both my kids LOVE coming to the gym and have become more confident, social, and physically fit.  Our family is very greatful to Coach Jerry and Coach Tonya for giving ALL kids an opportunity to participate, to discover their abilities they did not know they had, and have FUN all at the same time." - Vicky Fase

"Dear Coach Tonya, Coach Jerry and all the BMod staff, A note to let you know how much we appreciate you and your wonderful program:  Our delightful daughter Georgina, now seven, began working with Coach Tonya almost two years ago. Undiagnosed, except for the educational labels of mental retardation and severe expressive language delay, she began her time with Coach Tonya with a much bruised face and virtually no expressive language. Her protective response of putting her hands out to prevent her nose being smashed into the floor every time she fell, which was very frequent,( hence the bruised face), was not yet in place. Georgina was pretty uncoordinated, had low muscle tone, very little core strength and her balance was very limited. She began working with Coach Tonya in September of 2005 and within a relatively short space of time her core strength and balance improved immensely, she learned to jump two feet together on the trampoline, walk unaided along a balance beam and do forward rolls . Her overall physical strength and balance has improved immensely and she no longer has a horribly bruised nose! Even more importantly than the huge physical improvements Georgina has made, under Tonya’s skilled and gentle guidance she is learning to motor plan, listen and follow a string of directions, make choices and communicate more effectively. Coach Tonya gets Georgina talking by expecting her to respond verbally to her questions and also expects her to complete the choices she makes, even if she chose a non preferred activity because it was the last thing she heard or the easiest thing for her to say. In short Tonya is an incredibly gifted coach, intuitively knowing how to get the most and the best out of Georgina, her knowledge is immense and the passion for what she does is obvious to all who encounter her. Georgina has grown tremendously during her time with Coach Tonya we are so lucky to have found the program and would recommend it whole heartedly. Georgina loves to “go play” with her friend at the gym, she has no idea how hard she works there and how much she has learned , but we do, Thank you so much." - Love Jan Maddison

"I was introduced to Jerry and BMod fitness approximately two months ago, and while my first adult class was a bit humbling, the journey since has been nothing short of amazing. I’ve seen incredible results in my strength and stamina, my life long fear of heights seems to be a thing of the past, and most important of all, I’m having an absolute blast! Jerry is such an inspiring coach who truly strikes the balance between challenging and being supportive; he is always just as excited about my successes as I am. Every class is different so I’m never sure what’s in store for me, which means I can’t imagine ever getting bored with the workout. Beyond the physical and performance improvements, my energy is through the roof, and I’ve actually re-learned how to play. While I’ve tried so many different types of workouts over the years, Jerry’s gymnastics class is hands down the most fun, the most challenging, and the most all around beneficial. The fact that he has been able to create an environment for adults where several levels of physical abilities can work together, feel comfortable, and cheer each others successes on is pure genius. I absolutely, and without hesitation, recommend Jerry’s adult gymnastics to everyone!"

"Hi Jerry- Thank you for what you have done for Austin. We are amazed at the progress that he has made. It brought tears to our eyes to know what his struggles have been and to see how he has progressed. Most importantly, Austin has gained a self-confidence and satisfaction that for so many years he was deprived of. We would watch him sit at the window, watching the other little boys play in the cul-de-sac, knowing he could not play like the other boys. He was different and he felt physically inferior. He now feels empowered and confident with himself, accomplishing things he never believed he could do. Thank you for enabling him to ascertain this gift.  [Austin had severe infantile spasms and cortical dysplasia. He had a couple of hundred of seizures each day. Some were so violent that they would slam his body onto the mattress of his crib. At 17 months he underwent a left functional hemispherectomy. Subsequently, Austin has right–sided hemiparesis Austin was the 26th surgery and wound up being UCLA’s poster boy. He came out of surgery kicking both arms and both legs. Going into the surgery we didn’t know if he would live or die or be wheelchair bound. He left UCLA within 8 days on no medications. This was a miracle story. If you ever wanted to see any info on it, LA Times did a series on him, Peter Jennings, and other programs did segments or wrote articles on him.] " - Nicole Rawnsley

"How do you say thanks to a place where my child feels confident doing things that normally do not come easy for him? In the few months we have been coming to Coach Jerry, Max has improved in so many ways! He pays attention better, he listens to directions, he literally asks to go to see "Jerry", which is HUGE because he is mostly a non-verbal child. (But that is improving too!) Max has Autism, and as I said before, a lot of physical activities are not easy for him. Coach Jerry immediately made Max feel comfortable and made sure that he was placed in a small group of kids that fit well together. Max has an absolute blast every single session he is there. It warms my heart to see my child so happy and to see him doing things that sometimes I did not even know he could do! It is obvious that the entire staff cares deeply about our children and love what they do!" - My warmest regards, Christina Warren

"My experience with the BMOD conditioning and fitness adult groups - My son started the BMOD program about 8 months ago, from behind the window, it always looked like he was having a good time, jumping and tumbling…. I never in my wildest dreams thought that I'll find myself doing what he does and more… As we grow up and become adults we assume an "identity" upon ourselves, now we need to be the "responsible" adult we can't "risk" doing all kinds of crazy stuff, and when going to the park with our kids we rarely find ourselves swinging on the swing or climbing the monkey bars. It's more about us telling our kids: "be careful not to…" (do what we're afraid of doing) About 5 years ago I got my Pilates certification and started teaching, as a Pilates instructor I found about myself and my clients that this method addresses the body as well as the mind. It intrigued me how that works. When I met Jerry and BMOD it confirmed my strong belief that exercising and stimulation of the Vestibular system and the brain can actually change a person - mind, beliefs, behavior, abilities, and mood….! I started taking the adult classes about three months ago; the first lesson was really hard! But even after the first lesson I could feel the change, the euphoria after was unbelievable, I was just happy, and couldn't wait for my next session. Every session after became more and more do-able, and so much has changed in my life because of these lessons. The first thing I've noticed is that I have so much more energy throughout the week, I needed less sleep, another major thing was that I was so much happier, I hardly have any more "gloomy" days. Later I found that I lost lots of fears, not only the fear of flipping … any fear that we endure as adults- fear of diseases, fear for our kids safety, fear of leaving the safety of the ground to fly or dive or surf or ski. So far I have mentioned only mental changes because I consider them the most important ones, but my body has changed a lot too, as I said I am a Pilates instructor, my job is to exercise …The information my body received by doing the BMOD adult exercising program helped me get even leaner and stronger, I am more balanced thanks to my balanced vestibular system, and I am sending my clients to take the BMOD program as part of their regular exercise routine. The best thing ever is that I am feeling like a kid again, I dare more; I can be silly and survive. This program is good for everyone, the fit and the unfit, it's a lot of fun and coach Jerry always makes it a positive, safe experience to anyone. I know that this will be the future "fitness trend" in the USA, and can't wait to witness it." - Hila Weisberg

"Sometimes you get lucky. That's what happened when an acquaintance recommended that we take our young son Max to gymnastics therapy being run by Jerry Bennett. Max has a common kind of neuropathy that, while not severe, has had a profound impact on his abilities to run, jump and climb, to move with assuredness through the world. Over the past two years Jerry has helped Max get stronger and more capable by implementing a work program that is not just challenging, but fun. Bottom line, we've dealt with a number of physical therapists, and they've all been well-educated and well-meaning; Jerry brings these qualities to the table, and more: he has that most rare gift, a intuitive sense for what needs to be done and how to do it. This is a quality that no amount of training or experience can develop in full; you've either got it, or you don't. Jerry Bennett has it all, in spades, and it's what makes him and BMod stand out in the crowd." - Marc & Staci Moss (feel free to contact us through Coach Jerry

"In just a few weeks we have seen improvement in Jamie's motor skills, sensory issues and even speech. She is more confident in all physical activity, and her teachers have noticed improvements at school. We are very happy with Jamie's progress thanks to Coach Jerry and Coach Tonya who have been extremely patient and encouraging.  Thank you!" - Robin Auerbach

"Coach Jerry has been a tremendous help for our seven-year-old son. Jackson has autism but Coach Jerry treats him like a typical child. As a former professional athlete, I know the importance of strength, flexibility and discipline. Coach Jerry stresses these fundamentals to the kids in a way that is enjoyable. The progress Jackson has had in the past six months is incredible!"
- Mike Sherrard, former NFL wide receiver (Giants/49ers/Broncos)

"BMod Fitness has been an extraordinary experience for my son. Jerry is a gifted instructor and he and his staff provide a highly motivating and fun environment for these kids. My child has made significant gains in his coordination, attention, and social skills. The time with BMod Fitness is absolutely his favorite time of the week!" - Elisa Charney

"In just one month, Sasha has had significant improvement with sensory issues, eating and body strength. His ability now to walk, jump and run is just amazing. In spite of his cerebral palsy, he can do many of same things as other six-year-olds. But the most important thing I see is that he is now very confident. Thank you."
- Coach Gago Demirchian, U.S. Olympic Fencing Team

"Jerry, Diane and I wanted to let you know just how incredibly happy we are with Christian's development since enrolling him in BMod Fitness. We have noticed significant improvement in his speech, social skills, physical strength and control, confidence, self-esteem, and patience. He has also become a much happier child. He looks forward to his Thursday and Saturday sessions at your gym. Diane and I couldn't be happier with his progress, and we wanted to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are particularly and especially grateful for coach Tonya. She has been a Godsend for Christian. She's incredibly caring and nurturing, and her devotion to Christian's development is truly remarkable. Christian is very fortunate to have her as his coach. Thank you again." - Simon Mekari

"Hi Jerry happy Halloween! just a little story...Matt didn't even get the point of Halloween until he was about 8 or 9. up until then he didn't have the language or social skills to care about or want to trick or treat or hand out candy. he was so tactilely defensive that he would melt down if I tried to put him in a costume and take it off immediately. When he was 8-9 he finally got what it was all about and wanted to help hand out candy. He doesn't like candy himself, so his trick or treating was limited to the neighbors on either side, & he would try to rush into their house when they opened the door (again the social skills) or take handfuls of the candy offered. This year was different. he handed out all the candy himself, with little help and said, "happy Halloween!" to most of the kids at the door. When it came time for trick or treating, I told my husband we would be gone about 10 minutes. Not so. Matt and I went to houses over 4 blocks. he stood at each door after ringing the bell, said "trick or treat" when the door opened, didn't set foot through a single door, and said "thank you" each time. It wasn't the candy, he hasn't eaten any . It was the joy of the tradition and social interaction. Half-way through, he turned around & grinned and said "I'm having so much fun mom!" sorry for the long note, but I had to tell you so that you would understand the gift you have given him, and us. A priceless gift. thank you Jerry." - sincerely, Ellen Soto"

"Coach Jerry has been coaching my 7-year-old daughter Natalie for about a year now and my daughter just loves it. Coach Jerry is very motivating and encouraging with Natalie especially when a routine is challenging for her, he uses positive reinforcement and knows how much he can push Natalie on a certain routine. She is doing things that she wasn’t able to do before, like follow a 3 to 5 step direction (tuck, roll, spin, c drop etc) on trampoline. She used to dislike the obstacle course, now she asks Coach Jerry to build one for her. Ever since she has been attending the Wake-up classes her behavior at school is really good, she is calmer, organized, and does better with transitions at school. I think it not only important for the child to be happy and comfortable with the coach but it is also important for the parents to feel the same about the coach who is working with your child. There are only a few people I trust with my child and Coach Jerry and Coach Tonya are among those few. Thank you Coach Jerry for making a difference in my daughter’s life and for caring." - Alicia Mendez

"My daughter Erin has a diagnosis of early infantile autism, and is considered moderately to severely affected. Erin has worked with both Coach Jerry and Coach Tonya for almost two years now. In that time, I have seen a remarkable transformation in her. When she began the program, Erin was 4 1/2 years old and still in diapers. Within a week she was in underwear, and never had a single accident, even at night. While she formerly needed constant verbal and physical prompting and correction in order to stay on task and follow simple directions, she is now able to consistently and independently follow and perform complex sequences of skills. She has gained body awareness, confidence, strength and agility. Her spontaneous speech has increased dramatically and she is socializing more easily with both autistic and typical peers. Erin instinctively knows what her body needs, and she looks forward to her sessions with great anticipation, bordering on exuberance. She particularly benefits from the wake-up classes before school, and her teachers have reported better attention and focus, easier transitions and more cooperation. The pure joy and personal growth Erin has experienced at BMod is unequaled by any other therapy program we have tried. It would be difficult to find more dedicated, knowledgeable, gifted, patient and caring people than Jerry and Tonya, and my gratitude to them for what they have given Erin, and our family, is immeasurable." - Cathy Buckley

"I’ve been thinking of writing about my son’s (Orr) experience at BMod for a very long time; and the only reason I haven’t was because I had so much to write that I didn’t know where to begin. I found BMod by accident; for a long time I thought that Gymnastics could benefit Orr, and while I was looking at the Monarchs web site I was thrilled to find BMod on there, and it sounded great. Well, not as great as it really was! From the very first phone conversation with Jerry I understood that we had finally found what Orr has needed for so long. Jerry’s attitude is the first and most important factor; seeing him with Orr is amazing, a kid with attitude problems, very low self esteem and an obvious communication problem - Orr is listening, complying, and obeying all that Jerry asks him to do. With Jerry Orr is working very hard on all of his skills, coordination, strength, control, communication, and team play. Orr typically doesn’t like to work hard and he will try to get out of any hard task with all his means. School work and chores were becoming a battle zone everyday. Yet with Jerry he works really hard, sweat pouring over him and finishes his hour with a smile and asking me “when is my next time with Jerry?” We could not believe our good fortune! There are a lot of programs out there for special needs, believe me I’ve been to a lot of them with Orr. But, and it’s a big BUT, there aren’t a lot of special people that know what to do to really help our kids and do it out of a sense of a mission in life. We feel so lucky to have found BMod and Jerry because he knows what to do and how to do it, and the most important thing- he treats these kids with respect and as having an equal opportunity in life. He also cheers and gives credit for well deserved actions, there is no false cheering, and the kids get credit for their hard work only. I read recently that doing physical activity that requires a learning process (at any age) builds new brain cells; in the past three months since Orr has started the BMod program, I can see my child changing. When he’s in class and I watch him I sometimes have to rub my eyes because he doesn’t seem anything like the son I thought I knew; he has become more mature, more responsive to requests and to his environment and the most important thing is his self esteem is so much higher. What BMod gave our family most of all is hope, hope that everything can and will be alright. There aren’t enough words to truly thank Jerry and all the BMod team involved in this program. I hope their program will grow and flourish into something that would benefit more kids and families like mine." - Hila Weisberg.

I wanted to take a few minutes to write a letter expressing my deep appreciation for the services that BMod Fitness, and in particular, Coach Jerry Bennett, provides for my family. My son Aidan has been working with Coach Jerry since May of 2006 and I have seen much improvement in his behavior as well as in his social skills. I heard about Coach Jerry through Aidan’s teacher, Sharon Glickman, who was providing services for us through a program called EPIC. My son was having problems (mostly with aggression) in his regular pre-school program, which culminated in him being asked to leave. I found an in-home daycare program that I thought would be good for him, but after only a week there, Aidan was asked to leave, despite not actually causing any problems. The parents of the two other children there thought the potential for problems was too high and they were threatening to leave. Therefore Aidan was asked to leave since he had been there the shortest amount of time. I am a single mother working fulltime outside of the home. My parents have been helping me with Aidan since I returned to work almost three years ago, but my mother is disabled and was having difficulty caring for Aidan. Aidan was diagnosed with Sensory Integration Disorder and Pervasive Developmental Disorder NOS in November 2005 and began receiving services through EPIC. However, he needed something more along the lines of physical therapy but was found not eligible for services through the school district during his IEP. Therefore it was imperative that I find another program that could help Aidan with his difficulties. After talking with Coach Jerry on the phone for about 45 minutes, we decided that we should meet to have Aidan evaluated for services. Coach Jerry said that based on my descriptions of Aidan’s behavior, he felt pretty confident that his program would work well for us. I am pleased to say that I began seeing changes in Aidan within one week of starting the program and that was when he was only attending one hour per week! Since then, he has improved so much and has become a more confident and social little boy. Coach Jerry has extended his program to include an hour of social play for boys only on Saturdays. Aidan’s aggression has lessened greatly. There have been several instances in which Aidan has gotten physical and out of control but Coach Jerry knows how to handle those situations and since then, Aidan has continued to improve. Coach Jerry has made himself available via email and telephone, as well as before and after class and has given me good ideas in dealing with Aidan. I know I am benefiting greatly from his help and am becoming a better mom. I am so thankful to Sharon Glickman for telling me about Coach Jerry. He is a wonderful, optimistic, caring, and loving person. Aidan is having fewer and fewer instances of aggression and is really learning to handle his feelings appropriately. Aidan has also become much better at handling himself physically. He is very big for his age and looks like an eight year old instead of someone who will be five on January 15. Before starting to work with Coach Jerry, he had problems with balance and coordination. He also felt the need to frequently crash into things or people – which comes from his sensory problems. But now, he can run without looking at the ground, he can walk across a balance beam and not fall off, and he hardly ever crashes into people anymore. He’s learned how to handle his sensory needs in a much more appropriate and safe manner. I sincerely don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t been told about Coach Jerry and his program. I look forward to continuing to work with Coach Jerry and know that with his help and continued determination, Aidan will become a well-adjusted and confident person. - Danielle Sahiner

Owen is a very loving yet feisty 5 ½ year old with a neurological disorder called “Sensory Integration Disorder”. This has caused him significant developmental delays in speech, language, behavior, social interaction, and sensory awareness. He looks 6 but acts like a 4 year old. To those who don’t know him or his disorder, he looks perfectly “normal” but acts like a bully, strong-willed, undisciplined, spoiled brat. Until we began therapy with BMod Fitness, Owen’s disorder was causing him to have daily major, uncontrollable meltdowns because his brain could not properly process the information his senses were telling him especially when he felt out of control of his environment. Owen’s neurological disorder was not fully diagnosed until he was 4½ years old. At age 5, Owen began individual therapy with Coach Jerry and joined in a Boy’s Only Social Play Group with BMod Fitness. He is now in small group therapy with another boy his age & developmental level and continues in the Boy’s Social Play Group. He loves both sessions so much that his weekly timeframes are usually based around when he goes to the gym with Coach Jerry and his new friends. In just 6 short months, we have noted significant changes in Owen: · Became much more coordinated in his movements (not the rumbling, stumbling, clumsy kid he started as) · Strengthened his core muscles that help him move & play (even has the tiny start of a 6 pack tummy instead of all wiggly jello tummy he started with) · Overcame his debilitating fear of heights that would keep him off the playground equipment at the park, Chuck E Cheese and McDonalds (we now are happy to say that we have problems getting him off these playlands when time to leave) · Developed confidence in his own abilities and will try to do what Coach Jerry, his teachers, and parents asks him to without a fight for control (If he was unsure of a situation, he would just say I CANT and shut down. Now, he is discovering so many fun activities, making new friends and making significant strides at school since he will try when asked to.) · Plays appropriately with other children and seeks out play situations with other children in the Social Play Group, at school and at parks. (He used to go off to the side by himself when there were a lot of children or be too rough or fight with other children if they tried to play with him.) · Lower amount and intensity of meltdowns. Now his meltdowns are not daily, he may have a couple a week when he has an off week and the intensity is so much less and he can calm down much faster and transition to a new activity sooner instead of continuing to obsess on what upset him. · Endurance is greater and he has more desire to play outside and can keep up with the other kids instead of slumped sleepily on the couch or floor. - Amber Thompson
